Finally Giving This Lace the Attention It Deserves

I’ve been so busy lately — but for a very good reason.

At long last, I’m finally giving the thousands of metres of beautiful deadstock vintage lace the attention it truly deserves. And what a big, important job it is.

As I work my way through this incredible collection, it’s becoming more and more special to me. The deeper I research and learn about this lace, the more I realise just how extraordinary it is — and how lucky I am to be its custodian.

I don’t think I fully grasped it at first. But now, piece by piece, story by story, I feel a genuine sense of gratitude and honour in being the curator of this collection. This lace has lived a life long before it came into my hands, and caring for it feels like both a responsibility and a privilege.

Through my research, I’ve learned that much of this lace is antique to early vintage cotton lace, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century — approximately the 1890s through to the 1940s. Knowing this adds a whole new layer of meaning. Each length carries history, craftsmanship, and a quiet beauty that simply can’t be replicated today.

There’s still so much to uncover, catalogue, and share — but I’m loving every moment of this slow, thoughtful process. This lace waited patiently for decades. It deserves nothing less than care, curiosity, and respect.

And I can’t wait to keep sharing it with you.
